Our Mountain Communities This
area of small communities in the mountain foothills consists of 150 square
miles. Located in the western Jefferson and eastern Clear Creek and Park
Counties, these mountain areas range in elevation from 6,000 to 9,000 feet. They
offer the best of both worlds, the beauty and serenity of the Rockies and the
amenities of being close to a major city. Even though the areas offer privacy
and seclusion, that does not need to equate to isolation. Mountain meadows, lush
forest and delicate wildflowers all accentuate what we call home.

Evergreen is the
central pivot for the mountain communities. The area was
settled in the 1850s by people who loved the region for its
trees, open space, wildlife and relaxed pace of living. Just
six miles south of Bergan Park, Evergreen nestles in a valley
and has a pristine recreational lake. Evergreen is blessed with
an abundance of cultural organizations. The performing arts are represented by
the Evergreen Players, Chorale and Orchestras. The Artists Association
perpetuates the visual arts in the area. The Evergreen Center for the Arts
functions as the local arts council, and the Hiwan Homestead Museum is home to
the Jefferson County Historical Society. For recreation, the Evergreen
Municipal Golf Course is an excellent 18-hole facility. Reasonable rates and a
fine restaurant make this a popular stop year around. Evergreen lake is a
favorite spot for ice skating and ice fishing in the winter and boating and
fishing in the summer. Old downtowns Main Street is reminiscent of days long
past. The foothills surrounding
Evergreen are known for their mild year-round climate which is
due, in part, to the rolling mountain and valley character of
the land which serves as a buffer against storms. The town is
also doubly blessed in that it is circled by numerous park
areas comprising approximately 8,000 acres owned and operated
by the Denver Mountain Parks System. Evergreen is also located
close to the Arapaho National Forest. In addition, there are
extensive tracks of public land in the area managed by the
Jefferson County Open Space Commission. In total, there are
more than 80,000 acres of national forest lands, parks and
open space. Deer and elk can be seen feeding quietly, while on
the high peaks that lie to the west of Evergreen, bighorn
sheep and mountain goats graze. Evergreen is a town with a bright future. Its superb mountain
environment, combined with its growing business community, fine restaurants,
recreational and cultural opportunities, excellent schools and proximity to
Denver, insures that it will continue to be one of Colorados premier
residential communities.

Bergan Park is located northwest of Evergreen on Evergreen
Parkway, just three miles from Interstate 70. Settled in the 1850s by Thomas C.
Bergan and his family, today, this area is a small community with The
Marketplace, a retail and grocery center serving developments such as The Ridge
at Hiwan and Soda Creek. The Ridge is an elegant newer development built
in the 90s. The developer paid close attention to land planning and was very
concerned with the quality of the homes and how they are positioned on the site.
With half the 940 acres devoted to open space, everyone gets the feeling they
came to the mountains for. Soda Creek is an mountain community of five
acre parcels with equestrian trails throughout the alpine meadows, secluded
glens, and forested hillsides, with easy highway access to Denver. Watching a
herd of elk in your front pasture, you will feel like you own the entire
valley.
Genesee
is set into the mountain foothills to the south of
Interstate 70, this 2,000+ acre area is home to about 800 families. Genesee is
known for spectacular views of 14,000 ft. Mt. Evans. Nearly half of this area is
set aside as open space for hiking and preservation of a mountain environment of
meadows, streams and woods. Genesee residents also have easy access to private
amenities including tennis courts and club facilities with racquetball,
swimming, sauna and more. Genesee has its own fire department. Genesee Town
Center provides fine dining overlooking the Denver lights, plus two event
centers and several small shops and several office buildings.
Lookout Mountain, in 1910 was a tourist attraction providing
travelers with both scenic views and refreshments. Opened in 1923, the Mount
Vernon Country Clubhouse attracted many prominent Denver residents. Today the
clubhouse has been remodeled to include a pool and tennis courts for the
enjoyment of its more than 6,000 members. There is a large residential area
known as Paradise Hills, Genesee Crossing and Genesee Pointe among other smaller
residential developments. Many of the homes have a view to the eastern plains of
Colorado as well as the city lights of the metropolitan area.

Hiwan
is known for the internationally famous Hiwan
Golf Course. Winding through the subdivision, this 18-hole golf course is right
in the backyard of many homes. The country club also provides tennis, a pool,
fitness center, day care, bar and restaurant facilities. Homeowners are not
required to join the Hiwan Golf Club to live within the subdivision. Hiwan is
located along Evergreen Parkway about four miles south of I-70.
Conifer and Aspen Park are located along Highway 285, south of
Evergreen. The completion of a new four lane highway adjoining C-470 makes for
easy access to major employers in the metropolitan areas. There are several
retail centers in the area for shopping and dining. Residents enjoy many large
acreages for their horses. Conifer offers an abundance of natural beauty and
affordable homes of every size and architecture.
Bailey is also located along this
corridor and offers a selection of homes and homesites with
to die for views. All are within an hour commute to the
front range./fontfamily>
